Victor Ritchey Portrait Artist

An old friend of mine from high school, Victor Ritchey, has started this awareness group that has brought attention to cats and dogs in what we call mills. You can join Vic's cause on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/Victor.Ritchey.Portrait.Artist?ref=ts

You may have heard of terms like: Puppy Mills or Kitty Mills.

What quailfies as a Kitty Mill or Puppy Mill?

someone who breeds unregistered purebred cats or dogs who sells them as purebreds without papers.
someone who is looking for a quick buck
someone who drastically undercuts the price of registered purebred cats
someone who does not care who buys their kittens or dogs for what purpose
someone who lets kittens or puppies go at seven weeks or younger so that they do not have to spend any money on vaccinations (nor do they have to approach a vet and admit to what they are doing)
someone who does not offer a health guarantee, contract or even take the phone number of kitten or dog buyers
someone who will place their kittens or puppies for sale in pet stores
someone who has no thought or care to good feline husbandry or dogs
someone who has no thought or care to genetic good health or defects

The Abandoned Kitty

Once more my friend Rick came to the rescue! This time he saved a cat that I think was on its last of nine lives. Here are a few pictures from Rick.

Rick found her along a back road after she jumped under his truck.... Someone dropped her off and she was just skin and bones, but he fattened her up!

1.Take your new cat to the vet, unless he is from a shelter and the vets there have already examined him.
2.Be gentle and patient when handling the cat.
3.Speak to him in a calm, reassuring voice.
4.Give him a quiet place to rest undisturbed in your home until he gets used to his new surroundings.
5.Make sure there is not a big crowd around him.
6.Remember that abandoned cats usually have a bad history; so don't force him to do something he doesn't like.
7.Don't try to hold him too much until he is ready.

When God Made Cats

When God made the world, He chose to put animals in it, and decided to give each whatever it wanted.

All the animals formed a long line before His throne,

and the cat quietly went to the end of the line.

To the elephant and the bear He gave strength,

to the rabbit and the deer, swiftness;

to the owl, the ability to see at night,

to the birds and the butterflies, great beauty;

to the fox, cunning;

to the monkey, intelligence;

to the dog, loyalty;

to the lion, courage; to the otter, playfulness.

And all these were things the animals begged of God. At last he came to the end of the line, and there sat the little cat, waiting patiently. "What will YOU have?" God asked the cat.

The cat shrugged modestly. "Oh, whatever scraps you have left over. I don't mind."

"But I'm God. I have everything left over."

"Then I'll have a little of everything, please."

And God gave a great shout of laughter at the cleverness of this small animal, and gave the cat everything she asked for, adding grace and elegance and, only for her, a gentle purr that would always attract humans and assure her a warm and comfortable home.

But he took away her false modesty.

The Barnyard Cat

Sure your domesticated house cat has his duties of ridding your house of those pesky mice. But did you ever think of the ole barnyard cat? I think that his duties are tripled! Yep, he is the unsung hero on the farm or stable. Maybe it is because he does most of his work at night! I wouldn't be one bit surprised if he isn't the one who runs the barnyard!

A Cat Named Donald Trump

This is my daughter-in-law with one of their latest additions to their cats. They named him Donald Trump due to his orange mop of fur on top of it's head. They said that it reminded them of Donald Trump! Hhhmmmm.... I do see some resemblance there!

Here is Gin my one of my son and daughter-in-law's five cats. I'm not sure how Gin got her name, but I am sure that there is a story behind it. But anyways, isn't she a beauty!

Teddy The Cat

This is one of my friend's cat named Teddy. He sure has a lot of personality! Rhonda said that he loves to play chase with the lazer light. He gets so into it that he actually runs into the wall trying to catch it! Sounds to me that he will chase anything that moves! Here are some really cute pictures of Teddy! All I can say is, what a cat!

You never know where Teddy will show up! What a cat!!

Dang! Where is that silly rabit! I can smell him in here!

Now that the fun is over, time to take a cat nap!

Good Night Teddy.

I just love Teddy's Green-Yellow eyes!
